Teaching Little Ones About Stranger Danger

Children encounter strangers all the time. Most of the time, these strangers are nice, normal people with no ill intent, but there will be a few exceptions.

There is no concrete way to identify these individuals, but there are ways to lower the risk of your child becoming a target. It is through educating them about stranger danger.

It Takes A Village Infant Toddler and Preschool Center always makes sure to talk about topics like these with the youngsters at our Preschool, but children will be more inclined to listen to their parents.

So we’re here to give a few tips on how you can teach your child about stranger danger:

  • Identify safe strangers
Safe strangers are people your child can ask for help from. These can be teachers or security guards at their Daycare in Jersey City, New Jersey, or policemen in the streets.
  • How to act during dangerous situations
The most important part is teaching your child what to do during dangerous situations. Teach them “No, Go, Yell, Tell.” If a stranger makes your child feel afraid or uneasy, they should say “no,” run away, yell to alert people around them, and tell a safe stranger about what happened right away.
  • Teach them to trust their instinct
Teach your child that if a stranger is making them feel uneasy, they should immediately avoid them, even if these people are other parents, teachers, or staff at their Child Care in New Jersey.

These tips are only some of the many ways you can keep your child safe. If you are looking for more childcare tips or are in the market for safe Childcare Centers in Jersey City, New Jersey, just give us a call at 201-985-9555 to get in touch.
